Strategy Development Stream

About This Stream

This course introduces the Strategy Arc Framework™ as a framework for understanding how institutional and funding strategy is built from first principles. It is designed for individuals who want to understand strategy development as a discipline — practitioners, consultants, researchers, programme managers, and civil society professionals who want to build their own capacity to approach, lead, and facilitate strategic processes. The course is presented in five modules, each one corresponding to a layer of the Strategy Arc Framework™. Modules can be taken individually or as a complete sequential course.

Course Modules

01 The Problem Architecture

How to establish the compound, multi-scaled problem an organisation exists to address — across structural, relational, and institutional registers. The foundation on which everything else is built.

02 The Theory of Change

How to articulate the precise mechanism through which an organisation's work addresses the problem it exists to solve. The analytical spine of any credible institutional strategy.

03 The Identity and Legitimacy Narrative

How to establish who an organisation is, where it speaks from, and why it is credible as the institution positioned to do this work. Not a marketing exercise — a legitimacy argument.

04 The Evidence and Impact Architecture

How to demonstrate with evidence that the theory of change works — mapping proof points honestly onto the theory of change, and understanding what can and cannot be measured.

05 The Funding Translation Layer

How to translate institutional strategy into donor-facing language calibrated to different funder archetypes — the architecture from which targeted proposals can be assembled without starting from scratch each time.

Strategy built on evidence.
Owned by the institution.
